Blick in die Ausstellung Reformstadt der Moderne

After the First World War, Magdeburg reorganised itself earlier and more consistently than other large cities. As early as 1921, avant-gardists such as Bruno Taut were appointed to leading positions in the municipality, and modernism was able to develop in many areas. Numerous new housing estates and public buildings, reform schools, the health service or major exhibitions and innovative city marketing made Magdeburg famous throughout Germany. From March 2019, an extensive exhibition will tell the story of this modernist reform city.

A comprehensive catalogue has been published to accompany the exhibition and is available in the museum shop.
