Kulturhistorisches Museum Magdeburg

The antiquities and Egyptian artefacts, which are presented as part of the art collection, are also closely linked to the history of the Museum.

From plaster casts of ancient statues to Greek and Roman ceramics and everyday objects, a wide range of exhibits brings to life the world of ideas and experiences of ancient times

The tour uses original exhibits and hands-on objects to provide insights into the diverse Roman domestic culture. Wall paintings, for example from Pompeii, allow us to reconstruct the architecture and furnishings of Roman residential buildings. A wide range of objects were used in these rooms, from oil lamps to brooches (clothing fasteners). The tour focuses not only on the objects themselves, but also on the people who originally used them. Who needed what and on what occasion?

After the tour, children and young people can test their knowledge in an interactive Kahoot quiz. They can use their own smartphones for this, either alone or in groups.

Duration: 1.5 hours | Free admission for children and youth under 18 years of age, €15 tour fee for classes
