WHERE IN THE BUILDING?

The Museum of Cultural History Magdeburg has a unique collection of costume and traditional costume dolls that are around 120 years old. In 1905, the industrialist's wife Alwine Arnold (1848-1907) donated the model dolls and full-size costumes to her home town of Magdeburg for the Kaiser Friedrich Museum, now the Museum of Cultural History Magdeburg, which was under construction. A year later, the museum opened with a costume hall for the Arnold collection, which includes artist dolls in costumes from the Middle Ages to the 19th century and traditional costumes from various regions of Europe.

This collection was presented again from 01 December 2023 to 20 May 2024. In view of the period in which it was created, Alwine's doll collection is unique in terms of its artistic quality and the quantity of objects. Each doll is an individual in miniature format.
