International
In 2006, the culture historical museum will celebrate
is 100th anniversary.
In spite of the large losses of its collections in the Second World War
and
the grave destruction of some of its buildings suffered during that time,
the visitor can today enjoy again the outstanding artistic work of the
architects and the "extremely picturesque effect" of the museum's
general
appearance after the restoration which has returned the buildings to a
state similar to that at the time of its founding. The museum is currently
experiencing something of a Renaissance, which means on the one hand a
reflection on the early history of the town and the newly renovated state
of the building which houses the museum and on the other hand, a new entrance
onto the international museum scene. The meaningful development and the
gradual rehabilitation of our house are executed in a difficult process
of the reorganization of all museums of Magdeburg. The great international
succsess of the 27th Exhibition of the Council of Europe "Otto the
Great, Magdeburg and Europe" in 2001 and also of the 29th Exhibition
"The Holy Roman Empire 962-1806", in 2006, a joint project with
the German Historical Museum of Berlin, confirms
the concept, which has also in the coming years planned an exhibition
program with many highlights ready. One of the
outstanding plan is the exhibition "Otto Imperator" (2012).
